Pre-Move: 10 Customer Responsibilities

While there are numerous things going on during moving week and day, the following recommendations for customers can assist in a timely and more manageable moving day.

1. In case any last minute questions arise, provide your mover and driver with your cell phone number and email address. If you don’t have a cell phone, do not disconnect your house phone until a day after the move.

2. If you are taking your refrigerator or freezer, empty, defrost, and wipe out before the driver loads it.

3. Any items that may be in an attic, crawl space, or other kind of storage must be in an attainable loading area for the driver.

4. Carpeting, electrical, plumbing fixtures, and/or shelving are considered permanently affixed and therefore we are not allowed to remove them.

5. If you are moving a washer, dryer, or ice-maker they must be disconnected and serviced before the driver arrives.

6. Special packing might be required for things such as, waterbeds, pool tables, paintings, hot tubs, large screen TVs, and pendulum clocks.

7. Transporting firearms has many legal obligations. According to The Brady Bill, the model, make, and serial number must be recorded on the inventory sheet. Along with this the owner must initial the inventory sheet as an acknowledgment of receipt. It is also specified that the drive may not transport ammunition.
