Whoa! Are You Trying to Move That by Yourself?

While some people decide not to hire a moving company to assist with their move, there are everyday items that are very dangerous to more with just your buddies. Below are the top five most dangerous items to move by yourself:

  1. Pool Table. Since these are usually located in the “man cave” downstairs it makes it even more labor intensive to do it yourself. Don’t be fooled by a couple of beers and your buddies saying “we can handle it”. Pool tables can become unleveled by just the slightest bit of damage.
  2. Fish Tanks. Even if you only have goldfish and not a huge salt water tank, moving can be very stressful for Nemo and his friends. While the tank may look in good condition when it arrives, it may have the smallest leak from one of the side panels.
  3. Piano. Whether a baby grand or a stand up, pianos are heavy, expensive, and can easily come out of tune when moving it. Having the proper equipment to move a piano can help ensure the piano arrives the same as it left.
  4. Exercise Equipment. Not only is it heavy but usually pretty awkward too. It has fragile pieces here and there, but if you take the time to disassemble it, you could move it yourself.
  5. Jungle Gyms. Kid’s jungle gyms cost a ton these days and you don’t want to leave it behind it if you don’t have to. You most likely have already spent hours putting it together once. Save yourself some time and a headache and have your moving company dissemble and reassemble it for you.

Professional movers have specific equipment to help with moving these items. They also have experience moving heavy and awkward items from strange and hard-to-get-out-of places. Sometimes it is just best to leave it to the professionals.
