Delivery Time! Suggestions for a smooth unloading!

You’re  excited! You have just heard from Your Allied Van Lines/Columbine Moving & Storage driver. You have set a time when he will arrive at your new home to deliver your household goods.  Here are a few suggestions to make this final part of the move go smoothly and stress free.  The driver will ask that you or your representative be present at the unloading.  With you being present, if any questions arise, they can be handled quickly.

Upon delivery, the driver will ask for payment of the transportation charges, if the charges have not been prepaid.  Assuming this has been discussed with you at loading by your agency, Columbine Moving & Storage, this will go quickly.  The driver will then want to do a walk-through of your new home to verify where all the furniture and cartons are to be placed.  He will ask what the room names will be to correspond to what your boxes indicate.  He will name each room by writing it with tape at each door entrance.  This will help the un-loaders go to that room quickly to unload.  The driver will also give you or your representative the inventory. It is best to station yourself at the front door or the door where the un-loaders are entering. As the un-loaders bring your items into the house, they will tell you the inventory tag number so you can check it off the inventory.  It is your responsibility to check each item off the inventory as it comes into the house.  At the end of the job, if there is something that has not been checked off, the driver can address the situation and begin a search for that item.  The drivers are trained in handling your goods to prevent damage, but if there is damage, your driver or your Allied Van Lines agent, Columbine Moving & Storage in Aspen or Eagle, Colorado will get the claim process started.  You can start the claim process yourself if you prefer by going to www.allied.com, go to bottom of page and under “Customer Support” you will see “Domestic Claim Form”.  Click on that link to fill out the online claim form.

The driver has just pulled away from your door, now it is time to take a deep breath, and start unpacking all those boxes. It has been a long day, you deserve a dinner out. Allied Van Lines, Inc./Columbine Moving & Storage have moved many families and we strive to make your move as stress free as possible.
