ESPN launches X Games 2013, at Aspen, Colorado’s Buttermilk Mountain for the 11th consecutive year. Since late November, the crews have been full on transforming Buttermilk Mountain into a place of massive jumps, snowmobile courses, and one of the largest half pipes in the country for the skiers and snowboarders to show their stuff.
More than 150 competitors are coming this year to try and top last year’s unbelievable stunts such as Kelly Clark’s 1080 and Shaun White’s perfect score in 2012. Other competitors to look are for are Tucker Hibbert, Bobby Brown and one of our favorite locals, Gretchen Bleiler. Starting Thursday, January 24th, the four day event will feature snowboard and skiing superpipe, snowboard and skiing slopestyle, snowboard and skiing big air, and snowboard street, plus all the snowmobiling events: freestyle, best trick, snocross, snocross adaptive, and speed and style. Besides all the events going on, you also have VIP tents, concerts on site, and fee vendor booths with prize options. All of this is free to you, you only need to get to the event by bus or be dropped off. There is no parking at the event, but the busses are running non-stop in order to accommodate the crowds.
Our Aspen Moving and Storage crew has helped ESPN with the behind the scene set up at the hotel at the base of the venue since 2003. Don’t miss these events. There is something for everyone to see.
