Moving Fraud Red Flags

Rogue movers usually represent themselves like this:  They will never visit your home and give you an on- site estimate.  They will ask you to furnish a list of items to be moved, so they can give you a “low-ball estimate”, based on your list of items to be shipped.  Once your goods are on the truck, they will say “you added items to your original list”, and then demand more money before they will deliver your goods to your new home.  They hold your goods hostage until you pay the full bill.  Many times it is much more than was estimated on the phone or internet.  If you refuse to pay the inflated amount, the rouge mover will take your goods to a warehouse somewhere, and add storage charges to your already inflated bill. But, if you want your goods, this is your only way out, pay the increased amount.

Delivery Time! Suggestions for a smooth unloading!

You’re  excited! You have just heard from Your Allied Van Lines/Columbine Moving & Storage driver. You have set a time when he will arrive at your new home to deliver your household goods.  Here are a few suggestions to make this final part of the move go smoothly and stress free.  The driver will ask that you or your representative be present at the unloading.  With you being present, if any questions arise, they can be handled quickly.

Stressful time at loading time

Moving is a stressful time and particularly at loading time. To help the level of stress be at a minimum here are a few suggestions.  First & foremost have the driveway plowed and have access to salt for icy patches if you are moving during the winter months. Clear your driveway and sidewalks of any toys, hoses, or anything that may be in the way of the loaders so they can safely move your furniture and boxes onto the truck.
